Nicolas Boulenger
As a graduate of École des Ponts with a post-graduate degree in Business Organization, my path later led me to film and communication. I trained in acting (le Magasin), screenwriting (Maison du Film), and production management (INA). I have written and directed for television (TF1, France 2, Canal+, France 3) and for institutions (UNESCO, Publicis) before co-founding the production company ChezFilms in 2018.
Over the course of my projects, it became clear that my most valued contribution was upstream from production: in defining the right intent and a clear message to build an aligned communication strategy. La Boulengerie is the culmination of this journey: a space where I help launch or unblock communication for technical or complex projects, from crafting the message to creating the content.
My Approach
Too often, communication on complex topics fails not for a lack of resources, but for a lack of strategic clarity. My role is to identify the roadblocks and activate the right strategies before producing anything. Here is how we can work together:
1. Identify the Core Message
Pain Point: Energy is wasted debating the form (a slide, a video format...) because the substance—the core message that should guide everything—isn't yet clear and shared by everyone.
Approach: We start with "why." What is the fundamental objective? What is the one message that is absolutely essential to convey? This clarification becomes the compass that guides all creative and production decisions.
2. Regain Strategic Flexibility
Pain Point: Decisions about the format, channels, or speakers are made too early, becoming shackles that stifle the creativity and relevance of the message.
Approach: We distinguish non-negotiable constraints (budget, deadlines, technical requirements) from premature choices to define the most fitting solution, before getting locked into production details. The deliverable is a clear and well-argued roadmap.
3. Orchestrate the Timeline of Partners
Pain Point: An agency or freelancer is briefed too early (or too late) with vague expectations, turning the project into a rigid pipeline that creates friction between experts.
Approach: We define together the ideal partner profiles (agency? freelancer? producer? artist?) and their order of involvement, as well as the strategic brief to preserve a unified vision at every stage.
4. Find Your Voice
Pain Point: Communication feels like a chore (personally or within your teams). You feel like you have to "sell," oversimplify, or deliver a message that lacks rigor or authenticity.
Approach: A message is only credible if it's delivered with conviction. We look into your background and your project's history to find the elements to build an authentic and solid case. Marketing optimization only comes after.
5. Move from Strategy to Creation
Pain Point: The vision gets diluted when passed on to production teams, whether internal or external. The final result, while professional, lacks impact.
Approach: If you wish, my support can range from supervision as a consultant to taking full charge of production through my company, ChezFilms.
