Jealousy and Time
I'm realizing that professional jealousy has a lot to do with time.
In rivalry with our peers, we want to do it before the other person.
The hardest moments are when the people we admire or envy reach a peak before us. We feel left behind – even if it isn't exactly the peak we were aiming for.
So we want to join the race, hurry up and do it now.
Sometimes losing sight of what we really want to do.
Because at the end of a career or a life, does it matter that much when we did things? Doesn't fulfillment come instead from having done exactly what we wanted to do, whatever the timing?
It's easy to lose sight of what matters.
